Celebrating Culture, Community & Creativity: The Swan Cultural Canvas
Midland Gate is proud to unveil its newest cultural landmark — The Swan Cultural Canvas, a vibrant mural led by acclaimed Indigenous artist Warrijirri-Yarra (Arron Yarran) and created in collaboration with MaOchre Indigenous Art Gallery.
This mural is more than an artwork. It’s a living, breathing celebration of our community’s spirit — from the deep cultural stories of our First Nations people to reflections on wellbeing, sustainability, and shared identity. Every brushstroke speaks of connection, pride, and place.
Located near the double-storey carpark entrance, the mural stands as a beacon of inclusion and storytelling. It involved dozens of volunteers, students from local schools like Mooditj Noongar Community College and Governor Stirling High School, and community members who contributed to its vision and energy.
We extend a heartfelt thank you to the City of Swan, whose generous funding and belief in the power of community creativity made this project possible. Their proactive support of cultural initiatives like this helps strengthen social bonds, amplify diverse voices, and beautify shared spaces.
The Swan Cultural Canvas is now a permanent fixture in the Midland landscape — a place to reflect, learn, and celebrate. We invite you to come and experience it for yourself.
